THE LIVERPOOL CUP
After nearly 100 years the North West Section VMCC has decided to resurrect the Liverpool Cup.
This once prestigious event attracted all the major manufactures and star riders from around the UK and beyond. This event was traditionally held each year for bikes, cars, men and women to be put to the test on a long distance endurance road trial.
In 1926 the World Championship racing began, so road trials took a back scat for many of the teams. The original format was a test of over 350 miles setting off at night from Birkenhead and riding south down the narrow country lanes of Wales as far south as Pembrokeshire and returning later in the evening.
We at the VMCC are not so ambitious but we will be selling an authentic route and demanding ccnain rules regarding time keeping and navigation as well as reliability. The route will be split over 2 days and a halfway hotel is booked as part of your Rally subscription.
We realise not all riders own very old machines so we have created a class for all VMCC eligible lightweight machines manufactured before 2000. Other classes will be for Girder fork machines manufactured before 1940.
Back-Up assistance will also be included.
The rally will be using Tulip style road books.
